Most clothes and accessories are safe when worn and cared for appropriately. But where evidence shows a risk of serious injury or illness related to certain clothing and accessories, these products must meet compulsory safety requirements known as mandatory safety standards. In some cases dangerous clothes and accessories are banned from supply in Australia.
