Health & cosmetics

Most health products and cosmetics are safe when used appropriately. But where evidence shows a risk of serious injury or illness related to certain health products and cosmetics, these  must meet compulsory safety requirements known as mandatory safety standards. In some cases dangerous health products or cosmetics are banned from supply in Australia.

This section contains product safety information on various health products and cosmetics and includes information on:

  • products that have a mandatory standard or ban
  • choosing safe products
  • using products safely
  • possible safety issues that we are currently monitoring related to health and cosmetic products.
