Checking for safe products

Myth:  The government checks all products for safety before they are allowed on sale.

Fact:  Where there is evidence that consumer products have or could cause injury or death, the government regulates them. The onus for meeting product safety laws rests with suppliers.  Consumers need to be mindful of unsafe products. Check products thoroughly before buying. If you experience an accident or a near miss with a product, it is wise to let us know.
