Home ceiling insulation safety

  • Ensure that thermal insulation in roof spaces is clear of electrical fittings.
  • Australian New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 3000:2007 Electrical Wiring Rules provides guidance on the separation of electrical equipment and insulation materials. Check that electricians and insulation installers working in the roof space of your house follow the guidelines.
  • If you have downlights, ensure that you have installed downlight covers to minimise any risk of the downlights coming into contact with your insulation
