Vehicle support stands are tools used to support the axle or chassis of a vehicle. Vehicle support stands come in fixed or adjustable heights and are often used in pairs. The vehicle is lowered onto the vehicle support stands, creating access to the underside of the vehicle for maintenance or storage purposes.
The task of raising and supporting a motor vehicle is hazardous.
Raising and supporting a motor vehicle with vehicle support stands can be hazardous because of the vehicle's weight and lack of stability when raised. Using unsafe vehicle supports stands, or using vehicle support stands inappropriately, can lead to injuries and death.
Always buy and use vehicle support stands that meet the mandatory standard and always follow instructions for use.
This mandatory standard came into effect on 25 November 2008. It includes design, construction, safety marking and packaging requirements for vehicle support stands.
DON'T BE A JACKASS WITH JACKS. People have been crushed to death or severely injured when they have not used jacks, support stands or ramps properly.
