Children’s dart gun sets are projectile toys consisting of a firing gun and suction-tipped darts. Some sets may also include a target.
Children who place small suction-tipped darts in their mouths are at risk of choking on the darts or suffocating. Small darts can lodge in a child's throat and block the airways, causing loss of consciousness or death.
Always supervise children playing with dart gun sets.
There is a mandatory standard for projectile toys - see also information on these.
The mandatory standard for projectile toys was declared on 7 July 2010 and comes into effect on 31 December 2010. This page includes information on hazards and how to comply with this mandatory standard.
