Do consumers who are selling a used second hand product have to make sure that it complies with the mandatory standard?

Answer

No. Only businesses supplying second hand products in trade or commerce have to ensure they meet safety requirements. But if you are selling or giving away a second-hand product it is wise for the protection of others to ensure the product has:

  • all parts in good working order
  • instructions for assembly
  • instructions for safe use.
