When is it safe for children to use the upper bunk of a bunk bed or a raised bed?

Answer

Injury prevention experts recommend that bunk beds are not suitable for children under the age of nine years old, although a bunk bed is unsafe for children of any age if it does not comply with the mandatory standard. Children are also unsafe if they attempt to access or exit the raised/upper bed by climbing up or down without using the ladder.
