When should parents or carers move infants out of a cot?

Answer

Children are usually ready for a low bed or a toddler bed when they can:

  • stand confidently in a cot
  • shake the sides and ends of the cot
  • attempt to climb out of the cot.

Making this change will help to prevent possible injuries from falls that result when children try to climb out of a cot.
