While available evidence does not appear to suggest that members of the public have a reason to be concerned about the safety of food or drink containers containing BPA, consumers can choose to use containers made from alternative materials. There are a number of alternative materials to plastics including glass, ceramics and metals. These materials have different properties as well as different risks and benefits. For example glass can shatter and potentially cut people. Aluminium conducts heat very effectively and this property can potentially burn people. Consumers have a responsibility to use products in accordance with any instructions and apply common sense.
