ACL Regulations now finalised

Date: 1st December 2010

The Trade Practices (Australian Consumer Law) Amendment Regulations 2010 (No. 1) have now been finalised and are available online from the Commonwealth legislation database – Comlaw.

New regulation 92 has implications for the mandatory reporting requirements under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

To ensure that duplication of reporting requirements is avoided, the requirement to report death, serious injury or serious illness under the ACL does not apply if the supplier, or another person, is required to notify the death, serious injury or serious illness under a law of the Commonwealth, a State or a Territory specified in the regulations. New regulation 92 specifies those laws.

To view the regulations, visit the Commonwealth legislation database – Comlaw website.
