Our company supplies and installs window coverings. Do we still need to provide the warning label on the cord and installation instructions?
Answer
Yes. The regulations require corded internal window coverings to be supplied with certain information including a warning label and installation instructions.
Even if you are installing the window coverings for your customers, you must still provide installation instuctions. This can be as a flyer or a fact sheet which you can give to consumers to keep for future reference and as a reminder about the hazards with corded internal window coverings. This information is especially useful when a consumer takes down the window coverings for cleaning and then needs to ‘reinstall’ them.
The regulations also require a warning label or swing tag to be attached to the cord of the window covering. The words ‘Do not remove this label’ form part of the warning. The warning label on the cord serves the purpose of informing and reminding consumers of the hazards associated with corded internal window coverings and should not be removed after installation.
