Two deaths and a miscarriage have been linked, by state and territory health authorities, to listeria infections attributed to a range of Jindi soft cheeses. Brands include Coles Finest and Harris Farm.
Although listeria will cause no or only minor symptoms in most healthy people, it is particularly dangerous for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and the elderly. It can have an incubation period of up to 70 days, although it is usually about three weeks. Symptoms include fever, headache, tiredness, aches and pains.
