Safety guidance on concentrations of particular chemicals in certain consumer goods - now available

The ACCC has released safety guidance on concentrations of particular chemicals in certain consumer goods. This guidance will assist businesses to supply safe goods in Australia.

The guidance specifies the levels of certain chemicals’ concentrations which are considered to be safe. These chemicals may be found in clothing, textiles and leather articles, and include:

  • aromatic amines (derived from hazardous azo dyes)
  • formaldehyde.
