Identifying features

Sterling Rope products display the production lot number in two places. The lot number is printed on the barcode label affixed to their Care, Use and Retirement document. The lot number is also printed on the shrink tube label on the sewn portion of the prusik.

Please see the attached table for affected lot numbers.

What are the defects?

The bound loop prusiks may not conform to Sterling Rope quality standards and may break at a lower load than the published values.

What are the hazards?

If the bound loops break at a lower load than they are rated for, this could cause failure to the system and result in a potential fall hazard.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a replacement.
