The new mandatory standard for portable swimming pools made by the Commonwealth Assistant Treasurer on 4 January 2013 comes into full effect on 30 March 2014. It prescribes mandatory labelling requirements for portable swimming pools and retail packaging for portable swimming pools.
The mandatory standard is intended to alert parents and caregivers to the drowning hazard associated with portable swimming pools and that they should actively supervise children in or around the pool at all times.
All portable swimming pools supplied after 30 March 2014 must comply with the requirements of the new safety standard.
