Consumer Affairs Victoria is reminding Victorians to keep a look out for faulty toys that may pose a danger to young children.
The warning follows a recall of a wooden toy train set from Costco Wholesale Australia.
The red carriage tow bar of the multi-coloured wooden toy train set can break loose and pose a choking hazard for young children. This product was on sale at Victorian Costco stores between 9 October and 26 October 2010.
Anyone who has bought this toy should immediately stop using the product and return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.
Consumer Affairs Victoria Deputy Director Geoff Browne welcomed the recall.
“Faulty toys and banned products pose a number of risks to children,” Mr Browne said.
“Poorly designed and breakable toys can potentially cut, choke or strangle children.
“We take the safety of Victorian children very seriously. Consumer Affairs Victoria inspectors constantly monitor Victorian wholesalers and retailers to ensure products meet legal standards,” Mr Browne said.
More than 26,500 banned and unsafe toys have been seized so far this year from retail and wholesale outlets throughout the state.
