The Victorian Minister for Consumer Affairs, Michael O’Brien, has extended for 30 days a ban on small magnets used in certain novelty items marketed to adults.
The ban extension is effective from 23 October 2012 and means that the magnets cannot be sold or made available for sale. The products banned include:
- BuckyBalls
- Buckycubes
- Nanodots
- Neocubes
- Neodymium sphere magnets
- Xcube.

The ban has been extended by the Victorian Government to allow the Commonwealth Government to decide on its proposed nationwide ban.
