Reasons the product is recalled

In some circumstances when certain types of chemicals come into contact with the ERICA unit PEARL pendant it may result in cracks appearing on the pendant, which has the potential to compromise its functionality, including waterproofing. The chemicals may include but are not limited to: perfumes, fatty acids, mosquito repellent, hair conditioners, ammonia spray, and tea tree oil.

The hazards to consumers

If the pendant develops cracks, it may compromise its waterproofing and cause it to fail to function in an emergency.

What consumers should do

(1) Check the pendant for cracks. If cracks are visible, contact VitalCall immediately using one of the following methods:
(a) Call 1300 880 396 (9:00am to 5:00pm, 7 days a week)
(b) Press the VitalCall pendant (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
(c) Access the website (www.vitalcall.com.au) or email us at customer.service@vitalcall.com.au

(2) If there are cracks, consumers should not use the pendant in the shower or allow it to get wet.

(3) Consumers should test the pendant every day (if there are cracks) or every week (if there are no cracks) by pressing it and letting the response operator know that they are only testing.

(4) Consumers should not let the pearl pendant come in contact with any chemicals, particularly perfumes, fatty acids, mosquito repellent (Deet), hair conditioners, Spray N Wipe (ammonia), or tea tree oil.

(5) Even if the consumer's pearl pendant is not cracked, VitalCall will send a replacement pendant and easy-to-follow instructions on how to set up the new pendant and return the old one. If consumers have not received the new pendant within 6 weeks of being contacted by VitalCall, they should press the pendant and advise the response operator.
