Product description

The affected Hydro-Gear transaxles were included in 54 lawn tractors manufactured by the Husqvarna Group from 1 December 2010 to 1 April 2011 under the brand name Husqvarna.

Identifying features

Hydro-Gear transaxle model no. 170061 with serial numbers 0333 through 0351
Husqvarna tractor model nos. CTH2038 and CTH2642TE with serial nos. 010611D001376 through 02150211D001032

The serial number may be found on the serial plate, which is located on the chassis, beneath the driver's seat.

What are the defects?

There is a potential defect in the bull gear, which will manifest itself as broken gear teeth under load and cause loss of engine braking.

What are the hazards?

The drive gears may fail, causing the drive system to lose the ability to brake effectively, posing a risk of injury to the operator or bystanders.

What should consumers do?

Cease use of the lawn tractor immediately and contact the place of purchase to arrange for a service appointment and have the transaxle inspected to determine if a transaxle replacement is necessary.
