KTM Motorcycles—690 SMC R Model Year 2014/15
What are the defects?
It was determined that in some cases the spacers of the 690 ENDURO R where installed on the front wheel of the 690 SMC R. These spacers are 4.4mm shorter and the resulting play can cause the wheel to move axially on the front wheel spindle.
What are the hazards?
If the defect occurs, this can lead to damage of the brake disc and fork tubes and the ABS sensor, causing the ABS system function to be impaired. In addition, the brake piston can be pushed back from the brake disc, resulting in total failure of the front brakes. Failure of the brakes may result in injury or worse to the rider / pillion passenger and may pose a hazard to other road users.
What should consumers do?
The vehicle should not be ridden / operated until inspected by an authorised KTM dealer. Customers will be informed by letter requesting they attend an authorised KTM dealer where the inspection and required rectification will be conducted Free of Charge.
