What are the defects?
Potential risk of a minor quantity of bonded asbestos in the brake shoe lining.
What are the hazards?
For new, unused brake shoes, the risk of exposure to airborne asbestos due to handling, packing or unpacking is negligible.
Caution must be taken if carrying out maintenance. Procedures have been prepared and implemented to ensure that the brake shoes are handled correctly by mechanics during maintenance of the vehicles. Any work involving these brake shoes should be carried out by an authorised licensed motor mechanic who has been made aware of these procedures.
