What are the defects?
The detachable wall plug could split, exposing a live metallic contact.
What are the hazards?
A live metallic contact in the wall plug creates a risk of electric shock.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should stop using the affected adapters immediately.
If the wall plug splits while inserted into a wall outlet, do not attempt to remove it until power to that outlet has been switched off.
Consumers can check whether they have an affected wall plug by separating the detachable plug from the power supply and looking for a white dot or etched markings on the plug (see photographs). Plugs with a white dot or etched markings on the detachable wall plug are not affected by this recall. Only plugs with no white dot or etched markings are recalled and these unmarked plugs should be returned to Medela Australia.
Consumers with affected plugs can obtain a new wall plug by calling Medela Australia Customer Service on 1800 787 345 (9am to 5pm, Monday - Friday) or emailing Medela Customer Service at info@medela.com.au
Breastpumps may continue to be used with battery power only. The adapter, cord and breastpumps themselves are not affected by this issue.
All products were sold nationally by Baby Bunting, Toys 'R' Us, Target, Chemist Warehouse and independent pharmacies and retailers. Baby Bunting and Toys 'R' Us were exclusive sellers of the Swing Essentials and Swing Premium products.
