Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd — Mercedes-Benz AMG, GT and GTS Passenger Cars

Identifying features

VIN (Vehicle identification number)
See attached VIN list

What are the defects?

The software that determines the classification of the front passenger may not function correctly. This may result in an installed child seat being identified as a person, or a small lightweight person being identified as a child seat.

What are the hazards?

This may result in the front passenger airbag being activated despite a child seat being installed, or the front passenger airbag being deactivated when there is a passenger. In both cases, the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant would be increased in the event of a crash requiring airbag deployment.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz passenger car dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle free of charge.
