What are the defects?
The passenger airbag inflators may allow moisture to enter, causing the propellant in the inflator units to deteriorate.
What are the hazards?
Deterioration of the propellant may lead to abnormal deployment of the passenger airbag or metal fragment scatter, which may pose a hazard to the occupants of the vehicle.
What should consumers do?
Once parts availability is confirmed, owners of affected vehicles will be advised to contact their Nissan dealer to arrange for replacement of the front passenger airbag inflator. The replacement will be at no cost to owners.
