What are the defects?
Recently, we became aware of a potential issue affecting VAIO notebook models VPCF115FG, VPCF116FG and VPCF117HG, available on the Australian market since January 2010.
In rare cases, these notebook computers can overheat due to a potential malfunction of the internal temperature management system.
What are the hazards?
In the rare instance that the below defect occurs, and the notebook overheats there is a risk the consumer if they come in contact with the affected area could receive a burn injury
What should consumers do?
Consumers affected by this issue can obtain from our website a BIOS Firmware update to upload to their notebook. The following link is the notice and also the information detailing the update package. http://www.sony.com.au/support/announcement/404423
Alternatively, affected consumers can call our contact centre on 1300 137 669 to receive guidance on how to self help or we can arrange for our Authorised Service Centre to rectify this for those customers needing help.
