Suzuki Australia Pty Ltd — GSX-R1000A, GSX-R1000R and GSX-R1000RZ Motorcycles
What are the defects?
When a rider upshifts gears between first and second, neutral gear may be inadvertently selected. Continued opening of the throttle will cause very high RPM. If the rider shifts into second gear without disengaging the clutch, during the very high RPM condition, an excessive load may be applied to the powertrain which can cause the drive chain to stretch.
What are the hazards?
The chain could come off or break and cause the motorcycle to lose drive, which may pose an accident hazard to the rider and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Consumers are advised to contact their nearest Suzuki Dealership to have their motorcycle inspected and if necessary replace the ECU, drive train and/or sprockets.
For any concerns or queries please contact Suzuki Customer Care line on 1800 777 088.
