What are the defects?
An internal electric contact may become disconnected due to extensive wear. If this occurs, the driver will not be able to stop the scooter during operation, except by turning the motor off with the ignition key.
What are the hazards?
If the operator cannot bring the scooter to a stop, serious injury may result for the driver, for pedestrians, and for other road users.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should contact the dealer where the scooters were purchased to establish if their scooter is affected. If the scooter is affected, consumers should cease using it immediately and arrange for its repair by their dealer.
