Product description
The Surface Observation Signal Device is attached to some Buoyancy Control Devices used in scuba diving. The Surface Observation Signal is a device that is inflated with air and acts as a signaling tool for divers on the surface.
What are the defects?
Some units sold since 2002 may have a faulty "elbow" pipe which is used to transfer air between the Buoyancy Control Device and the safety tube. A small number of these "elbows" have exhibited signs of cracking or breakage resulting in a situation where the air may not be transferred from the Buoyancy Control Device to the safety tube, thus preventing the tube from inflating and furthermore, this leak may prevent the Buoyancy Control Device from fully inflating.
