Product description
The recall addresses two issues.
1) Bicycles equipped with disc brakes and quick releases with levers that can open far enough to contact the disc brake assembly.
2) Bicycles with front quick-release cam levers that have a clearance of at least 6 millimetres, which is the equivalent of the width of a # 2 Pencil, between the leading edge of the cam lever in its most open position and the disc rotor while applying thumb pressure on the end of the cam lever directed towards the rotor (the “#2 Pencil Test”) are not included in this corrective action.

Reason the product is recalled
When improperly used or left open after wheel removal or adjustment, the quick release lever may open more than 180° and become caught in the disc brake assembly. If the front quick-release cam lever has a clearance of less than 6 millimetres while riding it may come in contact with the front disc brake rotor.
The hazards to consumers
If the defect occurs, it may result in separation or sudden stoppage of the front wheel. This may cause the rider to lose control of the bicycle posing a serious fall hazard.
What consumers should do
Consumers should perform the #2 Pencil Test (a video on how to perform the #2 Pencil Test is on www.quickreleaserecall.com) to determine if their bicycle is affected. If the bicycle is affected, consumers should visit their nearest Authorised bicycle brand retailer for a free replacement of the front quick-release.
