Reason the product is recalled

An infant's finger may become caught in the stroller hinge while the stroller is being folded or unfolded, causing serious injury including possible fingertip amputation.

The hazards to consumers

While the stroller is being folded or unfolded, the main side hinges pose a risk of injury to a finger that may result in crushing injuries or amputation of a fingertip.

What consumers should do

Maclaren is restating its 2009 and 2011 offer to consumers of a free kit that includes hinge covers, additional warnings that can be attached to the stroller and instructions on how to fit the covers. As the hinge covers can easily be fitted by consumers, there is no need to return the stroller to the place of purchase.

Consumers can continue to use their stroller while waiting to receive the hinge kit and should ensure that they follow existing warnings and instructions when they fold or unfold the stroller. Children should also be kept clear of the stroller and folding mechanisms until the stroller is secured.
