Reason the product is recalled
In certain cases during the casting stage of manufacture, non-conformance occurred in the slack adjuster housing, resulting in a flow notch in the “handle” portion that reduced the effective cross sectional area and structural integrity.
The hazards to consumers
A manufacturing non-conformance in the slack adjuster housing could cause the housing to break at the handle under normal operating loads. This could cause the vehicle to have reduced and/or uneven braking capacity, resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and causing property damage, injury or death.
What consumers should do
Consumers will be contacted directly by letter and email from Gunite offering a FREE replacement unit.
