What are the defects?
Tubs of Castrol HTB Grease have been incorrectly labelled as Catrol Boating Grease - that is, certain tubs labelled Castrol Boating Grease contain Castrol HTB Grease.
What are the hazards?
HTB Grease is a multi-purpose grease for high temperature bearing applications. It is not an appropriate substitute for boating grease. HTB grease is more susceptible to water contamination that boating grease and components that are regularly submerged, such as boat trailers, may experience a lack of lubrication if HTB grease is applied instead of boating grease.
What should consumers do?
Consumers who have this product should contact BP Australia on 1800 226 561. Immediately cease using any equipment on which Castrol Boating Grease (500g tubs) has been used and replace all grease with the correct blue coloured boating grease.
