Why the product is recalled
Some of the products may be under or over filled with powder.
What the hazards are to consumers
Items with too much or too little powder may not discharge a steady stream of powder or may discharge their contents faster than required by AS/NZ 1841.5. This could result in a fire not able to be extinguished.
What consumers should do
These are industrial/commercial classes of extinguishers, not sold on retailers’ shelves. Buyers of these classes of extinguishers should contact the company from whom they’ve purchased the product; contact their Chubb customer service representative if they have an account with Chubb, or contact the recall hotline. Testing, or a tested replacement extinguisher, will be provided. Commercial customers who have a Chubb extinguisher maintenance contract will have their extinguishers inspected, and, if needed, replaced, during their next scheduled maintenance if they do not respond to Chubb’s recall letters.
