What are the defects?
There have been reports of some cell components of the EcoSalt chlorinators fracturing/rupturing, causing damage to the cell and occasionally to connecting pipework.
What are the hazards?
If the cell was to fracture or rupture, plastic fragments could be ejected and cause injury to bystanders. No injuries have been reported at the time of this notice.
What should consumers do?
Owners of affected chlorinators will be contacted via a letter from Davey Water Products, which will be sent to owners by suppliers of the products. This letter will contain important safety information.
A mechanical flow switch will be installed on each chlorinator unit. These installations will commence in November and will be conducted by Davey or qualified service dealers, at no cost to owners.
Where consumers require replacement cells before the flow switch is available, they will be asked to provide contact details so that Davey can return to install a flow switch.
Where consumers require replacement cells once the flow switch is available, suppliers will coordinate the free installation of the flow switch with the sale of the replacement cell.
Consumers can contact Davey on 1300 889 387 or their local Davey pool equipment supplier.
