Reasons the product is recalled
Interaction between the internal coil spring and the gate pusher may cause the gate pusher to displace, potentially preventing the gate from closing or the mechanism from locking completely.
The hazards to consumers
Failure of the carabiner to close or lock completely poses a potential fall hazard, which may cause serious injury to the user.
What consumers should do
Consumers should inspect their carabiners, and if they are within the affected date range, consumers should using the carabiner and then inspect the pusher unit to see if it is affected by the recall. Details on how to inspect are contained in the attached Recall Notice.
If the unit is not affected then the carabiner may be continued to be used.
If the unit is affected then the carabiner will need to be returned to the place of purchase or Expedition Equipment or DMM Wales.
