The Autopilot is used by pilots of small recreational boats and can be installed by Australian OEMs or individual consumers as an aftermarket product. The Autopilot may also be applied for vessels carrying a small number of passengers.
What are the defects?
Garmin has discovered an issue involving software on GHP Reactor Autopilots that may cause the unit memory to become corrupted and inoperative.
What are the hazards?
In very rare circumstances, the Autopilot may behave unexpectedly, including performing an 'abrupt' manoeuvre.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should immediately install a free software update by visiting the website http://www.garmin.com/support/software/marine.html, or contact your Australian OEM or dealer to obtain a flashcard copy of the software update.
