Reasons the product is recalled

The GasBadge Plus single-gas instrument may not properly indicate a low battery condition, resulting in a failure to "alarm" or "instrument shut down". This condition is exacerbated when the instrument is used in temperatures below room temperature.

The hazards to consumers

The defect may cause the user to be exposed to noxious gases without being alerted, resulting in poisoning.

What consumers should do

Customers should cease using the product and contact their local dealer to organise for a replacement unit. Industrial Scientific is also offering customers a free upgrade to GasBadge® Pro single-gas instruments.
