Defect relates to certain Bendix trailer spring brake control valves manufactured between March 2000 and April 2001. The valve commonly known as the 'trailer spring brake valve' has the following designations 'SR2 Special', 'ABV3802', 'SR3' and 'SR38'
What are the defects?
The moulded rubber face of the Inlet/Exhaust Valve ("I/E Valve") component of the affected SR-2/4/5 valve assembly can crack and separate from the valve's metal insert. Air can be trapped by a separated I/E Valve causing it to balloon and block the exhaust.
What are the hazards?
Problem can prevent the application of the parking/emergency spring brakes on the trailer during parking or in the event of a trailer supply line failure.
What should consumers do?
