What are the defects?
The product does not comply with mandatory safety standard for bunk beds, AS/NZS 4220:1994. The standard requires that:
• protrusions do not not exceed 8mm in length;
• the vertical distance between the guard rail and label indicating the maximum height of the mattress must be at least 160mm; and
• the country of origin and the Australian distributor’s name and address be permanently and indelibly marked.

What are the hazards?
There is a potential strangulation hazard if the child's clothes get caught on the upright corner post protrusions. The inaccurate label positioning may lead to an incorrect size mattress being used on the top bunk. As a result, a child can roll over the guard rail and suffer fall-related injuries.
What should consumers do?
