What are the defects?
The bell crank stud of the engine may corrode after prolonged exposure to seawater and potentially break resulting in loss of shift control.
What are the hazards?
If the bell crank stud breaks, the operator will lose shift control. This could result in the operator's boat becoming stranded, which could lead to property damage or personal injury.
What should consumers do?
Stop using the boat and contact your nearest Mercury/Mariner dealer to arrange for the bell crank stud to be replaced.
