What are the defects?
Due to a manufacturing fault, the clamp that holds the throttle shaft in place on the tiller handle may be missing.
What are the hazards?
If the throttle shaft clamp is missing, there may be a loss of throttle control with the engine slowing to idle, increasing the risk of an accident and injury.
What should consumers do?
Consumers should stop using their boat and contact an authorised Mercury Marine outboard dealer to schedule a service appointment, mentioning Mercury Outboard Service Bulletin 20-06.
