Product description

Shimano has identified a potential performance issue with mechanical disc brake callipers for road bikes sold after February 2012.

No injuries or incidents have been reported to date. However, in order to minimise any potential safety hazard, Shimano is recalling the affected brake callipers and are replacing them with improved callipers.

See a list of details to help identify the product.

Reason the product is recalled

The steel balls inside the cam mechanism of the disc brake calliper can fall out of place, resulting in a loss of braking power.

The hazards to consumers

Loss of braking performance in the worst case scenario may lead to loss of control or an accident.

What consumers should do

Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles with the recalled brake callipers and take them to a Shimano authorised retailer for a free inspection and installation of replacement callipers.
