The Merida MTB Expert 35 handlebars are tapered alloy handlebars which are intended for off road mountain bike use, particularly All Mountain, Enduro and Freeride applications. They were fitted to the following models of Merida mountain bikes sold nationally throughout Australia.

Reason the product is recalled

The handlebars may bend and weaken after heavy landing from jumps and drop offs. Over time, the handlebars may break.

The hazards to consumers

If the defect occurs while the bicycle is in use there is a risk of serious injury or death to the user.

What consumers should do

Consumers should stop using the bicycle immediately and contact their local Merida retailer to have the replacement Merida Expert II handlebars fitted.
