Reason the product is recalled

The battery compartment is not secured with a screw or by sufficient means to prevent access by young children to the button batteries inside. The item also fails to comply with the mandatory standard for toys for children 0-36 months of age, AS/NZS ISO 8124.1:2002 (as amended by the regulation), because the batteries are small parts and are accessible without the use of a tool or by making two independent movements of the battery compartment lid.

The hazards to consumers

Button batteries can be swallowed by young children and potentially cause internal burn injuries, resulting in serious illness or possibly even death. The button batteries are also small parts and can present a choking hazard to children 0-36 months of age.

What consumers should do

Consumers should remove the item from children immediately and contact Freecall 1800 099 178 to arrange for the faulty item to be returned to the supplier and to receive a refund or replacement item that has a secure battery compartment.
