OPI stem steerers were used on Cannondale mountain bicycle models that had a Lefty front fork. All OPI Stem Steerers from 2011 to 2015 are affected by the recall.

KR053 & KR052 OPI Stems are marked with the "OPI" logo in black with a white stripe above. They look smooth and rounded at the bike head tube and have no stem bolts, only 4 handlebar bolts.

What are the defects?

During testing the OPI steerer had a reduced fatigue life-span and this can lead to premature breakage of the fork clamps or bolts.

What are the hazards?

If the steerer fails during use this may cause the rider to lose control and may pose a fall hazard to the cyclist.

What should consumers do?

Consumers with an OPI Stem should immediately stop using the bicycle and go to a Cannondale Dealer for assistance and replacement of the affected steerer.
