Why the product is recalled
The units are missing a circuit breaker (a fuse). This fuse disconnects power to the unit if there is a short circuit in the wiring. A short circuit may occur if the vehicle has a flat battery and the battery is not replaced but the vehicle is given a jump start.
What the hazards are to consumers
If the defect occurs, the wiring may overheat and lead to an engine-bay fire.
What consumers should do
Consumers should immediately contact the supplier by phoning 08 9221 2345 between 8.30am and 4.30pm (AWST) Monday - Friday for further instructions. Arrangements will need to be made for the vehicle to attend a local service centre to have a technician install the missing fuse in the unit.
