What are the defects?
The cot does not comply with the mandatory Australian standard, AS/NZS 2172:2003 Cots for household use—safety and performance requirements. There were multiple failures related to labelling and non-compliance with the requirements for drop sides of cots.
What are the hazards?
The cot failed to comply with the various design, safety and performance and marking requirements of the mandatory standard. The product poses numerous risks, including the risks of suffocation and entrapment particularly, to vulnerable infants using this product.
What should consumers do?
All affected customers (who have not already replaced or destroyed their cots), regardless of whether they have previously accepted replacement parts, should:
• stop using the cot immediately
• not re-gift or sell any used cots
• contact New Aim to arrange for their cots to be collected and destroyed (at New Aim's expense) and a full-refund.
