What are the defects?
An oversized ball joint stem mounting hole and/or improperly tightened steering knuckle pinch bolts could cause a reduction in the clamp force required to hold the ball joint stem in the steering knuckle. Reduced clamp force may not adequately retain the ball joint stem in all conditions which may result in unwanted movement between the ball joint stem and steering knuckle. This movement can lead to accelerated wear between the ball joint mounting stem and steering knuckle. If this has occurred, the steering knuckle (s) must be replaced.
What are the hazards?
