RECARO Pole Position SPG (FIA) and RECARO Furious SPG (FIA) Racing Seats are after-market seats intended for use in motorsports cars used on race tracks.
What are the defects?
During internal crash tests of the seat systems it was found that under these specific test set-ups cracks can occur in the seat shell in the area of the front fixation to the steel adapter connecting the seat with the vehicle floor.
What are the hazards?
The cracks can possibly lead to a detachment of the shell from the adapter. In the case of an accident this can possibly lead to an increased rearward movement of the seats and as a consequence to a possible higher injury risk for the driver or loss of control over the vehicle.
